The year may nearly be over, but some exciting new appointments and more collaborative partnerships for OSTC are still very much underway. The latest non-executive director to join our board in January 2020 is Professor Rose Luckin, a world-leading educational technology (AI) expert from UCL Knowledge Lab, London.
As Professor of Learner Centred Design at the UCL Knowledge Lab in London, Rose’s research involves the design and evaluation of educational technology using theories from the learning sciences and techniques from Artificial Intelligence (AI).
She has a particular interest in opening up what she refers to as ‘the black box’ of learning, with the intention of showing teachers and students the detail – and speed – of their progress intellectually, emotionally and socially.
Rose is also Director of EDUCATE, a London hub for Educational Technology StartUps, researchers and educators to work together on the development of evidence-informed Educational Technology.
If you’ve been involved in the evolution and launch of our ZISHI knowledge suite, Rose’s appointment may come as no surprise; she’s been leading a team of UCL data scientists during the last 18 months to help OSTC apply AI and other smart technologies into the human capital areas of our business, including the Adaptive arm of our ZISHI knowledge suite, smart recruitment, mentoring and more advanced training methods of traders.
Rose replaces Donna Whitehead, who is stepping down from the Board following her appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor of London Metropolitan University.
Professor Rose Luckin, commented:
“I’m delighted to be joining the Board of OSTC at such an important stage of the company’s development. It’s a hugely entrepreneurial and innovative organisation, with a purpose, vision and values that really resonate with me. I look forward to helping the business reach its full potential.”
