It’s been a year of new recruits and new faces across the business and in all of our global hubs, with November being no exception. This month, we’re pleased to announce our new Head of Strategy & Change, Corey Smalley. Corey brings a wealth of strategic experience and expertise with him, earned during many meaningful roles on the global stage.

Kickstarting his education at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Corey’s first rung on his career ladder saw him entering the British Army and climb the ranks into the position of Commanding Officer of the 3rd regiment for the Royal Logistic Corps.

As one of the army’s ‘high readiness’ logistics operations, Corey supported the demands of contingency operations around the globe. He’s also served in senior leadership roles with NATO, the European Union and the United Nations, with operational experience in the areas of counter-insurgency, anti-terrorism, stabilisation, peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.

Even in the most congested, contested and competitive environments, Corey has successfully carved out creative, innovative strategies to ensure continued success. He has offered strategic advice and mentorship to governments, militaries, humanitarian organisations and international councils. These include, most notably, the Government of Mali, the US Department of Defence and most recently as senior defence advisor to the Government of Bermuda and His Excellency the Governor of Bermuda.
Holding a Masters in Strategic Leadership and Management, Corey is also a Chartered Manager (CMgr) and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (FCILT).

OSTC CEO Lee Hodgkinson commented:

“Corey is a decorated C-level leader with a distinguished military career, in roles of meaningful responsibility on the global stage. He has built a stellar reputation as a strategic leader who maximises operational capability through innovation, opportunity and talent management, whilst forming lasting bonds with stakeholders. He has operated in 9 different countries, across 4 continents and with negotiations in 7 different languages. He is a perfect fit for OSTC as we expand our trading and education presence internationally and we are excited he is joining our team.”
